AI Progress Statement on the National Policy Framework for Artificial Intelligence

AI Progress today released the following statement from AI Progress advisor Anna Chauvet in response to the recently released National Policy Framework for Artificial Intelligence.

“AI Progress welcomes the release of the administration’s National Policy Framework for Artificial Intelligence and its recognition of the transformative nature of AI models. The framework appropriately underscores that the use of copyrighted works to train AI systems fits squarely within the scope of U.S. copyright law and fair use, consistent with long-standing legal principles.

AI is accelerating medical breakthroughs, unlocking scientific discovery, and creating new economic opportunities. Amid intensifying global competition for AI leadership, it is critical that U.S. policy continues to foster innovation and secure America’s competitive edge in AI.”
